SLAP HAPPY CARTOONS was founded by top animation professionals KATHY ANTONSEN ROCCHIO, GREG SULLIVAN, JOSH MEPHAM and VITO VISCOMI. Kathy is an award winning producer / creator whose credits include THE HOLLOW for Netflix and NERDS AND MONSTERS for Corus YTV. Some of her producer credits include BEING IAN, YAKKITY YAK, YVON OF THE YUKON and THE LEGEND OF FROSTY THE SNOWMAN. She has produced numerous shows through development and production and has extensive experience creating budgets, working with corproduction partners, distributors, broadcasters and on CMF funded projects.
JOSH is an award-winning designer/director/creator whose credits include the Pulcinella award-winning WHAT ABOUT MIMI?, RICKY SPROCKET – SHOWBIZ BOY, and the Shaw Rocket Prize winning BEING IAN, for which he was awarded the 2006 and Best Director “Leo” and the 2006 Best Director ‘Elan’ Award. Josh has also directed Disney XD’s KID VS KAT and PACKAGES FROM PLANET X as well as two seasons of the series NERDS AND MONSTERS. Josh recently finished directing the Netflix Original animated series THE HOLLOW.
Greg is an award-winning director/writer/creator located in Vancouver B.C. His directing credits include NED’S NEWT, the Gemini nominated YVON OF THE YUKON, for which Greg received two best director Leo Awards, and PUCCA, for which he was nominated for an award at the Annecy Animation Festival. He also served as a writer and co-director on Disney XD’s KID VS. KAT and directed Hasbro’s POUND PUPPIES. Most recently Greg wrote and directed on two seasons of YTV’s NERDS AND MONSTERS, and just completed directing the Netflix Original animated series THE HOLLOW.
VITO is a creator/story editor who has written for many animated series including THE HOLLOW, NERDS AND MONSTERS, KID VS KAT, and BEING IAN. He has written for live-action comedies including THE VACANT LOT, JACKASS, THE HOWARD STERN RADIO SHOW, THE TOM GREEN SHOW, and THE MTV MOVIE AWARDS, and has three nominations for Best Writing - Canadian Screen Awards.
With over 20 years experience supervising more than 800 episodes, MARK oversees the various production pipelines, quality control, and studio infrastructure at Slap Happy Cartoons. Mark manages all digital technical requests and issues, and has worked on numerous series, including BEING IAN, GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, TOM AND JERRY, PUCCA, MARTHA SPEAKS, KID VS KAT, NERDS AND MONSTERS and the Netflix Original, THE HOLLOW.
EDWIN is an experienced animation and supervising director who has worked on the award-winning NERDS AND MONSTERS, THE TOM AND JERRY SHOW, MY LITTLE PONY, and PACKAGES FROM PLANET X. He began his animation career as a digital painter on the WB Feature Film LOONEY TUNES BACK IN ACTION, and has lectured and taught animation at CAPILANO UNIVERSITY, VANCOUVER FILM SCHOOL, and the VANCOUVER INSTITUTE of MEDIA ARTS.
Danielle has been an accountant in the Canadian film industry since 1992, first managing tax shelters then moving on to production. Danielle brings a thorough knowledge of production financing, and accounting to Slap Happy. She has worked on numerous projects such as DreamWorks': JOSEPH: KING OF DREAMS, YVON OF THE YUKON, YAKKITY YAK and GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE prior to joining the company. Danielle oversees all financial aspects for the company including tax credit and funding applications.
As studio Office Manager, ALLISON ensures daily operations run smoothly and arranges special events for the SLAP HAPPY team. A former travel consultant, coordinator, and sales representative, ALLISON spends her free time volunteering for a local woman’s charity and a children’s summer camp. Her incredible baking skills keep the studio staff happy (and pudgy!) and she’s recently perfected a way to make rainbow frosting for cupcakes!
